About Kiera Garcia
Kiera is driven by an upbringing rooted in respect for the environment as we are in and of it. Growing up in Northern California, she learned about environmental advocacy and sustainability through the community around her.
After taking classes in Environmental Science and learning about global social inequities, she decided to move to London, pursing a BA in International Relations at Royal Holloway and a MA in Postcolonial Studies at SOAS, University of London. In both of these degrees, she focused on land use and famines as they relate to Indigenous dispossession, and specifically how Indigenous ownership and leadership can remain within these spaces.
Prior to joining Synchronicity Earth, Kiera has worked within her community to support students within the academic, social, and emotional sphere, taking on roles such as being a Quantitative Teaching Assistant and Welfare Contact. She also worked on the student newspaper at Royal Holloway, ‘The Orbital’, working across the Opinion and Culture sections.
Outside of the office, she is frequently hiking, cooking, and attending local farmers’ markets, finding fresh local produce whenever possible. Care for the community, human or otherwise, is central to her approach at Synchronicity Earth as she works to support partners through sharing their stories.
