About Kate Galido

Katherine (Kate) Mana Galido is a conservation practitioner with nearly three decades of experience in environmental advocacy, community empowerment, and sustainable resource management. She supports locally led conservation initiatives across Southeast Asia, fostering partnerships, strengthening learning, and ensuring that community knowledge and leadership shape conservation priorities.

Her career spans coastal and forest conservation, rights-based approaches, sustainable livelihoods, and regional programme coordination. She has worked extensively with Indigenous Peoples, fisherfolk, women, youth, civil society organisations, and government partners, championing inclusive conservation grounded in community rights, local knowledge, and the long-term stewardship of nature.

Before joining Synchronicity Earth, Kate served as Programme and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PMEL) Coordinator at the Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme Asia, where she led organisation-wide learning and accountability processes and coordinated the regional implementation of the Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA) across Southeast Asia. She also served for two years as the GLA’s Global PMEL Coordinator, supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning across an 11-country programme.

Kate holds a degree in Zoology from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and is a co-founder of Back to Basics Ecostore, one of the Philippines’ pioneering zero-waste refill stores. She is also in her third year as a volunteer mentor for the Lead to Serve programme of the Association of Foundations, supporting and mentoring emerging leaders in the Philippine social development sector.
