People’s Planet Project (PPP) is an Indigenous-led initiative and global collective of filmmakers, geographers, and legal experts working together to drive positive change. By combining storytelling, geospatial technology, and legal advocacy, PPP supports Indigenous Peoples with the tools and agency to defend their lands, protect their rights, and stop environmental destruction.
The ultimate goal of PPP is to see a world where Indigenous Peoples can prevent unsustainable industrial and other forms of development from encroaching on their territories. PPP aims to protect Indigenous land, language, traditions, and livelihoods, ensuring they are preserved and shared for future generations through evidence-based storytelling. This storytelling will also serve as evidence to protect Indigenous land rights.

PPP’s work is built around three pillars: GeoStory Camps, impact filmmaking, and Indigenous-led GeoStorytelling. Firstly, GeoStory Camps are training programmes that provide skills in filmmaking and geospatial mapping. Secondly, PPP supports Indigenous and impact-led participatory filmmaking to co-create documentaries directly through the eyes of communities.
Finally, PPP is developing an Indigenous-led GeoStorytelling platform that showcases evidence-based films alongside geospatial data and maps. This platform brings together modern technology and Indigenous knowledge to strengthen connections between Indigenous communities across different regions.
