About Marcus Bateson

Marcus is a passionate facilitator and event coordinator who brings creativity, care, and a commitment to access, sustainability, and equity to everything he does.

Originally from Cork, Marcus began his journey in the arts as a playwright and theatre director after studying English Literature and Drama. His award-winning plays—exploring LGBTQ+ themes and our connection to nature—have been performed across the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Through this work, Marcus discovered a love for bringing people together and creating space for underrepresented voices, which led him to coordinate festivals, workshops, writing groups, and even a podcast.

Since relocating to the UK, Marcus has continued to champion inclusive practice in events and facilitation. He has supported young people with special educational needs to express themselves through writing and literature before working with recruitment marketing agency Penna on internal engagement and EDI campaigns, including Pride and Mental Health Awareness Week.

Outside of work, Marcus enjoys writing for theatre, finding the best cycle routes in London, reading poetry, volunteering with the Green Party, escaping to the seaside, and cooking big dinners for friends.
