About Grace Brady

Grace loves non-charismatic fauna – especially fish! Her interest in fish has sent her around the world, from Iceland to Australia. Originally from the US, Grace moved to Scotland for university, pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Sustainable Development and a Master’s degree in Biology. Her passion for fish conservation and advocacy started with marine species but, much like an adult salmon, she has found her way into freshwater.

She gained hands-on experience working with freshwater fish as a technician for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. While raising Endangered Kendall Warm Springs dace and Yellowstone cutthroat trout, she contributed to on-the-ground conservation efforts in Wyoming.

Grace collaborated with researchers at the University of St Andrews to develop the Invasive Traits of Freshwater Fish (ITOFF) database, which ignited a love of collecting and analysing large biological datasets. As a Data Officer for SHOAL, Grace supports conservation efforts and raises the profiles of the world’s most threatened freshwater fish species.
